The Geomatics Lab at the Department
of Civil & Environmental Engineering, IIT Delhi is a teaching, research and
development facility focused on the study and application of geospatial
technologies.
It integrates disciplines such as traditional
surveying, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing, Global
Positioning Systems (GPS), and spatial data analysis to solve real-world
challenges in areas like environmental monitoring, natural resource management,
and disaster response.
Equipped with advanced instruments like Digital
Levels, Total stations, RTK GPS etc., the lab supports teaching, research,
mapping, and spatial modelling, enabling precise data collection,
visualization, and analysis.
The lab supports academic research, by providing
accurate geospatial insights for informed decision-making.
The Geomatics Lab also offers training programmes,
fostering expertise in geospatial technology for working professionals.
Its interdisciplinary approach ensures that
professionals and students gain valuable skills in the rapidly evolving field
of Geomatics.
